NSW: Prison escapee recaptured
SYDNEY, April 8 AAP - A prisoner who escaped from Sydney's Long Bay Jail in a stolendepartmental car has been recaptured, police said today.
Wayne Pinder, 30, was arrested at a house in Richmond, in Sydney's west, about 3.45pm(AEST) yesterday, a police spokeswoman said.
Pinder, a minimum security prisoner, drove to freedom last week after the keys wereleft in the ignition of a corrective services department car parked inside the prison.
He apparently got through the perimeter fences by joining a stream of cars.
The car was located yesterday at the time of Pinder's capture, police said.
Pinder was due to face court this morning on numerous charges.
He was serving a three year and eight month sentence for larceny and receiving stolen goods.
