Fed: Bishop vote risks divisions and funding cut off: Jensen
Anglican Archbishop of Sydney PETER JENSEN says the election of an openly gay bishopwill throw the Episcopal Church USA into turmoil.
He says the church risks desertion by members or cuts in funding because of the move.
Dr JENSEN'S comments come after the majority of the church's House of Bishops votedto ratify the Reverend GENE ROBINSON'S appointment as bishop of New Hampshire.
Dr JENSEN, who strongly opposed a similar move in the United Kingdom, says he's profoundlydisappointed and the move could create division in the church worldwide.
He says it's a major moment for the church because for the first time it's appointeda leader who, in his opinion, is in strong contravention of the teachings of the Bible.
